“Ç”„‘㕁EŒ´”“¯s‚O‚Pvia Enformable.com / April 8, 2014 / Engineers from Tokyo Electric held discussions with officials from the Japanese government on Monday where they communicated that they are running out of room to store contaminated debris at the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.  According to estimates provided by the engineers, more than 560,000 cubic meters of debris will be produced from decommissioning activities over the next 13 years.

Tokyo Electric believes that they can reduce some 340,000 cubic meters of debris by burning wood debris and other combustible materials and crushing contaminated rubble to use to pave roads within the plant.  The utility says that they can store 60,000 cubic meters in existing storage facilities at the plant, but will need to find at least 160,000 cubic meters of additional storage space.

  1. What happens to the radioactivity, if they burn contaminated wood? Will it be released in the atmosphere?

    • What happens to the radioactivity, if they burn contaminated wood? Will it be released in the atmosphere?

    • Yes it will, Drictliy into the atmosphere to rap around the planet.

  2. Please don’t start to sneak recycle this debris, Find a spot it can be hauled to where no one will ever go to, dig deep, in future when done, debris is all buried, put fence around it or burie it where you find it?

  3. must be buried, you see how far the sea rolls in, fence is just so people don’t walk over the land where it is buried.

  4. Bury it far underground ur going to kill millions of people helpless when do you people get to decide the fate of the world YOU DONT so let the world have a say as it’s going to be us and our children that have to keep breathing wouldn’t surprise me of it was another government job still trying to secretively kill of billions wow doing a good job so far!!!!

  5. Oh terrific…. burn some (spread more radioactive particles into the air), recycle some (radioactive footpaths… what a novel idea), bury some (leach radiation into the soil) – wow! This just gets better and better – these Tepco brainboxes are full of great ideas. But seriously, the one thing not to be overlooked here is the fact that you can’t properly decommission a NPP – there is NO WAY to get rid of any of it – this filthy, murderous industry has no legitimate reason for being and because we, the public, have been duped we’re now faced with undeniable truth that we’re stuck with these toxic poisons until the end of time…. and the end of life on this, our once grand and beautiful, planet….. whichever comes first. Of course all you Nuclear supporters and apologists, don’t you worry – your lovely NPPs will still be here long, long after we’re all gone; how wonderful is that?

Do you really think they are going to burn it on an open fire? And I doubt the general public or anyone will be walking on the these roads as they are in the plant itself however the radiation being washed off these surfaces could be a problem in the future.

      Be rational!

      • Huh? You “be rational”…. they (TEPCO) have been “open-burning” for 3 years….. ALL OVER JAPAN. Have you any idea what this means?? Are you suggesting that “now”, “suddenly” they’re going to burn things in a “controlled environment/container/whatever” so it’s “safe”????? Far out…. what drugs are you on? 🙁

  6. Send it to the moon

  7. From what i’ve been able to uncover regarding the doomed Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, we (the World) may be facing head on, an unprecedented change to our environment and that of many future generations to come. While the so called experts in the field paint an ever rosier picture of this disaster, we (the People) have become ever more cautious to their findings and have degenerated into an arena of misleading or misguided speculation. The fact is, we know Tepco have not been forthcoming with the difficulties that have arisen and have exercised a manner of secrecy regarding any publications on the matter. It is widely reported that journalists have been threatened with prison sentences up to and including 10yrs in prison for reporting negative findings about the plant, and the workforce being used to try to clean up this mess is mostly formed from inexperienced personnel. These people hold in their hands, the whole Worlds future.

  8. That’s a no brainer, sell it to the US government…tell them Green Peace said it was “Green” (like when they endorsed Nuclear power as green energy”) then the government will give tax cuts to encourage people to build their homes from it touting that “warm glow you will get when you use it”.

  9. Just dump it in the ocean.

    • Seems they’ve already thought of that 🙁

  10. No wonder the Japanese are so determine to migrate into the western academia, so as to distance themselves from the filthy atomic gangsters running their island into the sea.
These people seem to allow all manner of astrosities to befall their lives, yet you hardly hear about fighting back or risking their lives for a just cause; like saving their way of life and natural environment. What a bunch of money-grubbing monkey’s just counting their payoffs waiting to become a nation of nuclear lab monkeys.
    What a society!!!
